    Daddy’s Little Monster
“There, there.. It’ll be okay..”
I wonder what it was that made the Lord of Evil abandon Marceline to Ooo by herself at such a young age. Did he not care, or perhaps he was protecting her from some other threat we don’t know of. Maybe one day we’ll know.

    Hero Falls: A Process Post..
Did you guys fall asleep?
On the off chance that you guys are interested into what goes into a pinup for me, I thought this one would be a good picture to go through the process. It’s not really a tutorial, since this is probably not the speediest way to go about things.
I actually scanned the picture before I inked it back in January, so this is one where you get to see the pencils with no ink. Anndd.. get to see me tear all that down and start again..

I recently came across the original drawing of this one, and I thought that I should give it some color. Then I looked closely and realized why I hadn’t colored it to begin with. So, I took it into the computer again and redrew all the folds and gave it some structure. It was a fun exercise to figure out what was already working and what needed to be completely redrawn. Sometimes a second draft is a good thing.

I was talking about Adventure Time with Cheese and John.. The conversation veered toward the gender swapped characters. We dubbed him Femongrab.

I regret NOTHING!!

I decided to try an exercise on inking, so I used a Frazetta drawing as a jumping off point.
After that, Adventure Time was a natural pick. This one actually got done pretty quickly. I only worked on it for two days.
What do you guys think?

More watercolor practice. This is more for the first three seasons than the fourth. I think that’s all I can get into it without spoiling anything. Though, if you’re not watching this show, I’m not sure what you’re doing here. Go. Go watch it. I’ll wait.

And the original pencils and inks for this one. Sorry the image looks a bit fuzzy, that’s what happens when I take a photo for twitter on my phone and forget to scan before coloring the thing.

    Marker Time!
Someone went through my older pictures and singled out one of my marker drawings and suggested that I do something with them again. I’ll admit it’s been awhile since I did anything with the old prismacolors. I’ve also been having a lot of Adventure Time playing in the background as I draw.
I think working in another person’s style helps to figure out things that I wouldn’t do otherwise. The looseness of the arms and weird contortions done on this show are some of the most fluid bits of animation I’ve seen outside of Ren and Stimpy. Usually, I’ll draw a head shape and draw from there. On this one, I drew their whole bodies before putting in any details. That’s something I really should do more often.
There’s also the palette that I usually have when working on a marker piece. I figured I’d leave that in there, in case anyone was wondering. And last but not least, I posted a photo of the original inks here.
